Leading the Charge: Veterinary Day 2026 & Our Commitment to Planetary Health

On this Veterinary Day – 25th April 2026, the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore sends a powerful message to the world: Environment Protection is Animal Health.

As CEO of the Special Animals and Veterinary Emergency Relief Society, I witness this truth daily. We respond to crises—floods, heatwaves, and pollution disasters—and every time, the first silent victims are animals. A degraded environment doesn't just harm habitats; it accelerates respiratory diseases, heat stress, and the spread of vector-borne illnesses. There is no healthy animal without a healthy planet.

This year’s theme, “Environment Protection for Improving Animal Health,” is not an abstract goal. It is our urgent call to action. At SAVERS, we are expanding our emergency protocols to include environmental risk mapping, ensuring that relief reaches not just injured animals, but also the ecosystems they depend on. We urge veterinarians, students, and citizens to see themselves as frontline environmental guardians.

To the future leaders of UVAS Lahore and our global veterinary family: Your stethoscope is one tool. Your voice for cleaner air, safer water, and sustainable land is another. Let this Veterinary Day mark a shift—from treating sickness to preventing it by protecting our shared world.

Join us. For the animal. For the environment. For life.

Happy Veterinary Day 2026.
